The Generac PWRcell 9kWh battery is a powerful, modular energy storage system engineered for whole-home backup, load shifting, and energy self-reliance. As part of Generac’s integrated PWRcell ecosystem, this system brings together solar generation, intelligent load management, and flexible storage capacity—offering homeowners a smart, customizable solution to reduce energy bills and stay powered during outages.
 
With 9 kWh of usable capacity and up to 4.5 kW of continuous power output, the PWRcell 9 is built to handle critical loads with ease, and when paired with Generac’s PWRview energy monitoring platform, homeowners gain visibility into how energy is produced, stored, and consumed—empowering them to make smarter energy decisions.
 
Unlike many battery systems that come in fixed sizes, the Generac PWRcell is modular and expandable, with the 9kWh configuration consisting of three 3kWh battery modules. Homeowners can expand capacity in 3kWh increments up to 18 kWh per cabinet (six modules), or stack multiple cabinets for even larger installations. This gives households the flexibility to start small and grow as their energy needs evolve.
 
The PWRcell battery is DC-coupled, allowing direct charging from solar panels with minimal energy loss. When combined with Generac’s hybrid inverter, this setup delivers industry-leading round-trip efficiency, reduces conversion losses, and enables true whole-home backup when used with the Generac Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and Smart Management Modules (SMMs) for load control.
 
The system is built with Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC) chemistry, which balances energy density and performance, and is backed by 10-year limited warranties for peace of mind. Designed for indoor installation, the PWRcell battery is compact and wall-mounted to fit cleanly in garages, utility rooms, or mechanical spaces.
