The FranklinWH aPower 2 is a fully integrated, high-performance AC-coupled energy storage system designed to deliver whole-home backup, load management, and energy flexibility for homeowners looking to increase self-sufficiency and lower energy costs. With a usable energy capacity of 13.6 kWh and a continuous output of 5 kW (10 kW surge), it provides enough power to cover essential and even larger appliances during outages—making it a reliable option for backup and daily cycling alike.
 
Each aPower 2 unit comes with a built-in battery management system (BMS), inverter, and monitoring capabilities, eliminating the need for multiple external components. It is designed to work seamlessly with existing or new solar installations and is compatible with most grid-tied string inverter systems thanks to its AC-coupled architecture. This makes it especially useful for retrofits where homeowners already have solar and want to add battery storage without replacing inverters.
 
Where the aPower 2 truly stands out is in its integration with the FranklinWH aGate, a smart energy control system that provides intelligent load management. When the grid goes down, aGate automatically switches between essential and non-essential loads—allowing the battery to prioritize power delivery to critical systems like refrigeration, medical devices, internet routers, or HVAC. This not only maximizes backup duration but also provides flexibility in system design and everyday use under time-of-use (TOU) billing programs.
 
Up to 15 aPower 2 units can be installed on a single system, delivering over 200 kWh of usable capacity—making it one of the most scalable residential energy storage solutions available. With built-in software updates, remote monitoring via the FranklinWH app, and integrated safety protections, the aPower 2 offers peace of mind and long-term value.
